Comments on pedigree:
Esteban is surely a product of his tb genes:
In BOTH the sire and the motherline we find Nearco - Champion of Europe in 1938. Unbeaten in 14 races, grandsire of Northern Dancer and sire of Nimbus, common in steeplechase pedigrees and one of the greatest and most influential sires of all time (LUCKY BOY XX, HERALDIK XX, COUNT IVOR XX, PHARAON XX...)
Nearco is also the the sire of Nasrullah, in turn the sire of Bold Ruler, Stakes Winner Started 33 times with 23 first, 4 seconds, and 2 thirds Winning $764,204, he also appears in the motherline of French Record holder Alligator Fontaine.
Turn To xx also appears in the sire line, he is of course the paternal grandsire of the great Hand in Glove, himself sire of Jaguar Mail.
For tb anoraks, the mare Mumtaz Begum appears twice in the lineage of Prince Mab, once as the dam of Nasrullah and again as the dam of Sun Princess, who was herself the dam of Royal Charger.
This are dream genetics for eventing breeders, but also for jumper breeders lokking for the thoroughbred outcross.
Suitable for: Eventing, Jumping.
Description:
A very correct, athletic stallion with great looks, proven movement and scope.
Performances and Results:
Esteban won three times on the flat at distances between 1600 and 2000 metres, and was placed a further three times.
This is the only British owned thoroughbred stallion that is approved by the Holsteiner Verband. Not only this high honour, but he is also fully approved by Hanover, SBS, BWP, Selle Francais and Trakehner.
Esteban is currently (2010) ranked #49 in the WBFSH eventing sire rankings.
Strong points:
Blood, movement, looks
Comment on offspring:
They mostly look like their father, with attractive heads and a regal look. Generally dark bay, with excellent canter and gallop. The walk is classic thoroughbred, with a loose trot.
Offspring results:
His offspring have kept him in the top 40 eventing stallions in the world.
Almost more important than Esteban's approval with the Holsteiners, is that he has five stallion sons approved with them from his first crops. He also has one son approved DWB. These include Easy Way I and II, and Edesso.
Esteban's stand out son Elektron - Badminton 2011 Sub 50 dressage, clear XC and one rail SJ.
And in 2013, Rumour Has It, went clear round Badminton, with Dutch amateur rider Merel Blom, having already come 13th in Pau 4* the previous year.
Easy Going - International eventer with Dirk Schrade.
Edino 15 - International eventer with Madeleine Brugman, who won the Dutch 3* championships in 2011.
Enzo 65 - 8th CIC 2* Langenhagen 2010
Bundeschampionat 2010 - Esteban was the second highest represented stallion (behind the legendary Heraldik) in the eventing with two products and was the damsire of another.
Esteban also has 6 State Premium mares.
Mares to use with this stallion:
Mares lacking blood and gallop. For eventing mares, he is a must for warmbloods, who will lack the stamina cross country. Esteban will refine heavy and medium weight mares. And will add movement and scope. He is an improver.
